We were reading the book from our friends from the USA at Wednesday. The children didn´t like properties of Prince Ronald -he was proud and conceited. He didn´t appreciate the love of Princess Elitabeth. We liked on Elizabeth that she was clever.
Yesterday we watched a presentation of Romania and France. The children liked the stories about animals. We learned a new word in English - a stork. The names of each tale we write and translate. Each book has a picture in our workbooks.
Today we watched even a book from friends from Portugal. We laughed, it was a funny story. Thank you all very much.

Fantastic message!
She wrote to us Krystyna Drzewiecka - the author of our book.
Recently we sent a letter to Krystyna Drzewiecka - an author of our book "Five from Zakątek Street" and we asked for an autograph. Do not wait long for an answer. She wrote back, that she's very glad that we chose her book, sent us an autograph and she gave us a picture of Bobik - the real dog, who is one of characters from the book.
Ms Drzewiecka sends warm greetings to all project participants.

Presentations from Iceland and Slovenia
Today we looked for children's books from Iceland and Slovenia. The children did not like, how behaviored Snudra and Tudra in the bus. The end of story ended happily however, and girls regreted their mistake and changed their behavior.
At viewing book the Slipper cat children realized, that we have many common words. Or we realized, that they know some of them in three languages:
slippers - papuče - copaty
kitten - mačiatko - muca
mother - mama - máma
good afternoon - dobrý deň - dober dan
We agreed, that this cat we would like to have. We liked very much the characters of the two books, that were created by our friends. Thanks :-))

MAKING FRIENDS WITH BOOKS
On Friday we were getting to know two more books - from Poland and Slovakia.
We have 5 interactive boards in school but the classrooms are full all the time. We helped ourselves out with a white sheet. It worked perfectly and we prefer working in our classroom anyway :)
We thought that 5 friends from Zakatek Street were very happy to have each other. Having friends is wonderful. Their adventures were very interesting.
Danka and Janka are tipical sisters. We fight with our brothers and sisters as well. They shared many funny adventures. Illustrations are very nice.

We take a look at our friends' books.
Today we took a look at our partners' books. We liked them very much. Interpretations of the books were interesting as well. We were thinking about how could we use them. We were choosing materials from which we will create an exhibition and those which we will tell our colleagues from other classes about. We came to a conclusion that a book made from them would be amazing, interesting and unique.
We would also like to propose everybody to choose one of our books' character and "send him on a virtual journey" to our countries.
He will visit our schools, cities and will come through one adventure in each of them. Every country would create a story. Every journey will be placed in common book. What do you think about that?

"Five from Zakątek Street" - we are reading into our book.
One of the chapters of the book is about dreams and characters' future plans. We have also talked about it a lot and we present the results.
Students paint using the computer program Paint or simply draw their future plans on a piece of paper. They show their future professions.
The "Great Poles" chapter tells about our national heroes. We decided to introduce you a few great Poles. We created a PowerPoint presentation about that.
Warsaw is the capital of Poland. It is also a city where live all the characters of "Five from Zakątek Street". We are preparing presentation about Warsaw. Already we keep showing photos.
Today there was a beautiful reading contest in our school. Stundents from third classes were reading "Five from Zakątek Street".
After reading chosen fragments, we started a test about the matter of the book. Children remembered all details very well.
This is the presentation of today's events.

ANOTHER TWO BOOKS
Today we got to know the next two books. We chose completely different stories from the one we "read" yesterday. Today we read an American and a Bolgarian book.
Like always we searched for some basic information about the country and coloured the flag again.
And then we enjoyed listening to the story.
We definately agreed with the Paper bag Princess who left prince Ronald. After such hard rescueing she deserved much better husband. Clever girl!
The Bulgarian flowers on our wall helped us to colour the Bulgarian flag correctly.
Watching slides was sooo interesting. We coloured the gloves on an illustration of the front cover of the book in a way we'd like our gloves to look like. Some of us thought they knew the story but the ending got us unprepared.
We certainly didn't like the ending. If grandfather needed food or fur, he could only kill one big animal and let others go.

WE, THE SLIPPER CATS :)
Last week we turned ourselves into Slipper Cats and tried to mend some old and ripped slippers. We put some buttons on and other decorations. We used some textile colour and this was it! For most of us it was the first time trying to sew and we think we did a good job.

Reading marathon
City Library organizes interesting events every year in March. Very nice action is the reading marathon. And because we love books and we love reading, we participated in it this year. Together with the royal mentor our city major Vladimír Kostilník welcomed us to it. All students read one book - everyone read half of the page and gave the book to friend. Every reader has signed to the wall of readers and got a small present. In addition to this activity a surprise was waiting for our pupils in Friday 26.3. They attended the event called A Night with Andersen. Yes, they spent in the library the whole night. And with them were only librarians. Evening walk of courage, a fabulous ball, Cinderella´s searching ..... and many other activities transferred all the children into the world of fairy tales. And night spent in the kingdom of books - it is great!
Maybe we will do that night in our school library too :-))

Slovakia - work with book Danka and Janka
We read our book Danka and Janka with children during the month of March. We wrote gradually a breviate of individual stories in workbooks. Students prepared the content of story,. We tried from our book, which has 85 pages write only the essentials. I added the space Twinspace presentation throughout the book - the original. But it is very long, so children are preparing for you the abridged version. They paint illustrations to their individual stories. They rewrite contest of tales in Word to their computers. Children learn to work with Power Point, so they will prepare for their presentation.
